Updates from Save the Children in Haiti The children of Macary Village, just outside of Jacmel, on the southeast coast of Haiti are hard at work in their new HousAll Classroom. This Classroom and other were donated to Save the Children in Haiti by Ground Effects Ltd. of Windsor, Ontario and by HousAll Systems Corporation of Ottawa.
Reports on how the HousAll Shelter System is doing in Haiti are now beginning to flow from Save the Children and it seems that the HousAll Classrooms are being very warmly received. Lee Nelson, Save the Children's Chef du Mission in Haiti, says that the Children and the Communities where the HousAll Classrooms have been installed simply love them and find that they are much better than the old huts, tents and shanties that are, unfortunately, still being used in so many locations. These less than satisfactory solutions to much needed classroom space are still being used in the locations where the new HousAll Classrooms were installed because there are still children waiting to get enrolled in school.
There are some 500,000 children of school age that do not get an education in Haiti, simply because there are not enough schools. Save the Children in Haiti is working hard to change this situation, but, they are fighting an uphill battle and they need our help.
